I'm not sure how your boat is set up as far as getting to the back of your gauges but on my 1996 Shabah Z200 5.7 you lift up the driver's side headrest in the bow and have access to them. Once you find the back of your tach look for a dial that you set for the # of cylinders of the engine and try turning that dial over and over, then set it back to whatever # it was on for 8 cylinders and see if that fixes your problem. When I bought my boat a couple of months ago my tach didn't work at all and I read corrosion builds up in there and they freeze up and rotating that dial several times will usually free it up, it worked like a charm on mine! I hope this helps, good luck!

Thanks for the reply, i will give your suggestion a try on the weekend. My boat has the same opening in the headrest. The window defroster vent runs up the same access hopefully it won't get in the way.

I will let you know how I make out

    Thanks

It's definitely a little tight in there but my window defrost wasn't a problem on mine. If that procedure doesn't work the first time just keep trying and checking your tach, it took me several times to get it up and going. Also, even once it came around and started working it was stilll a little sticky and I'd have to tap the gauge every once in a while until it got good and loosened up. I hope it works for you!
