[Mariah on the bay]

I have 454 in my Mariah Shabbah Z275 i just bought it I was replacing the water pump and checking where the line goes into the oil cooler. I noticed a orange wire bundled with the ground wire that goes to the alt..the wire has a cover on it like it would be hot but its just hanging there ? any ideas on what it could be everything seems to run fine i just replaced the batteries as they were from 04 but besides that everything is good anyone have the same boat that could take a peek ? thanks in advance

Output wire from alternator that connects to the starter motor.

The boat still starts ...does it connect to the hot post on the alt ? Thanks

it connects to the top right post on the alternator, which is the output, so yes it's a hot post. then it connects to the starter motor.

the only other option is it could be the anode electrode for the mercathode system, however with it being located where it is, I highly doubt it's part of the mercathode system.
