Default New transom assembly now trim up not working

Hi, getting ready for start of season and really looking forward to it.

I had excess play in the steering so I had my mercruiser dealer replace the complete transom assembly (and new engine mounts while it was out). I got a call saying it is ready for collection but did I know the trim up button doesnt work (the trailer button does still work though). Actually I never had a problem with it before so I am wondering if it could be something at the transom end rather than the control/button end. I'd be greatful for any knowledge before I collect on Saturday.

Cheers, Grommett.

Sounds like the trim limit sensor just needs adjusted or maybe replaced. It just thinks it's already trimmed all the way up.

    Hi Dredd

The whole transom assembly has been replaced including RAM,s gimbal etc, I imagined this would include new senders? In which case it must be adjustment that the engineers should have done.

Yeah, it would seem odd/cheap if they didn't replace those when everything was apart because they do wear out and replacing them is a chore. It also seems odd that a shop capable of doing all that work doesn't just diagnose the issue for you since you just paid them a nice chunk of change.
If they were replaced then the first thing I'd check would be the switch.

I know you know this but I didn't and maybe other new owners don't.

I thought my trim up switch was not working but I found out that it works fine. With the drive down it will only bring it up to ½ on the trim gauge to keep you from over trimming after that you have to use the trailer button to finish raising it all the way up.

I got a call from the workshop on tuesday to say the fault had been rectified, something to do with a wire. So today I went out in the boat and half way accross the harbour I found I couldnt trim up. When I found somewhere to stop, I found the trim button doesnt work in either direction and now the trailer button doesnt work either. So I had to completely submerge the trailer to get the boat on without scraping the bottom, and had to leave the boat at the marina as it was no good to drive home with the leg all the way down. Will be having a word with them on monday.
