I just picked up my "new to me" 1995 182 Barchetta this past weekend. It has the 4.3 lx with an alpha one outdrive. The only problem with it is the tach doesnt work ive tried the turning the cylinder setting on the back with no luck. I think its getting power because it twitches when I turn the key. Any suggestions as to what might cause this?

Mine didn't work quite right when I first picked up my boat. I checked the connection at the ignition coil, seemed solid, so I went back and gave the gauge a tap. It's been working since I tapped on it a few weeks ago my first time out, maybe you'll have the same luck. Otherwise, I believe it receives signal from the ignition coil which, if you follow the center spark plug wire on the distributor, is on the port side of the motor in the rear. There are a couple wires connected to it, just verify they are connected well.

Sometimes just the slightest amount of corrosion will affect them. I would loosen, clean & tighten the connections just to be sure.

Well out of no where today going across the lake it just decided to pop back on haha. Thanks for all your help.
