No power to ACC swithes

I have a 95 Talari and I have no power coming to the accessory switches. Is there a fuse for the power going to the ACC switches? It's one red wire serving both, but I haven't tracked it down very far. There are 2 red cables connected to the battery plus the ignition. There is a fuse on one of these, and it's 35A so I assume it's going to the power trim.

There "should" be the power line coming from your starter up to under the dash. I am not sure on the talaris, but my shabah has a breaker panel under the dash with push style breakers, and also a fuse panel (added probably) tucked up under the dash. Check these areas first, as if it is factory, they should be fuse protected in one of those panels. If it was a fuse at your battery or engine, then more then your acc switches wouldn't work.

Okay, I'll check the wires from the starter. Wasn't sure if this is clear, but the other switches (blower, bilge, etc) work, just not the two ACC switches. I've pulled the switch panel out and there doesn't appear to be a fuse panel unless I'm missing it.

Yeah, I don't think it will be any wires at your starter. This is just where the fuse panel gets power. It is most likely in the fuse panel, which I am sure you have, I just don't know where it is. Like I said, my Shabah doesn't have fuses, it has breakers and they are labled on the kick panel below the captains chair. They are really easy to see and hard to miss on mine, so if you havn't seen that, then they must be hidden. but keep looking, you will find a fuse panel, or a breaker panel.

Found the fuse panel. Embarrassing! It's under the console, can't believe I didn't see it as much crawling around that I've done. I checked with a meter and there was a little power on the other side of the fuse. The fuses are good but corroded, so I'll replace them. Probably need to clean the connectors as well.

When we first got our '94 182 Barchetta last season, the courtesy lights and the manual bilge pump switch did not work. In trouble-shooting it, I had removed each of the fuses and tested them (not knowing which was which--which I now do). Lo and behold: Both "mysteriously" began working after all the fuses were put back in place. Coincidentally

, I'd noticed that the fuse holders were mildly corroded. So, after disconnecting the battery, I removed all the fuses, wire-brushed all the fuse holders with a small soldering tool wire brush, then treated them all with DeOxIt and ProGold. Problems solved

You probably don't need to replace the fuses. Just buffing-up the contacts on the ends should be fine.

Take this opportunity to determine which fuse holder serves which circuit and to catalog your fuse requirements, so you know what you should have on-hand for spares.

I cleaned the connectors on the fuses and moved them and the ACC connectors to an unused slot and everything worked. Will clean the fuse panel sometime soon.

Someone suggested replacing the glass tube fuse panel with a blade type fuse panel. I guess this might limit corrosion. Any ideas?

I just went thru this same little exercise (cleaning up the fuse panel) on the weekend for the same reasons Vinnieg. I figure that since mine lasted 14-15yrs before i finally had to clean it up then a further 10-15yrs should elapse before i have to do it again. Changing over to a blade style fuse panel seems like a lot of extra work with little reward.
