Default Bellows Replacement

Hey Folks, Have a 92 MX19 needing bellows and gimble bearing replacement. I have the parts on the way. My question is: Does $200-$300 in labor sound reasonable to replace all this and align engine. That is an estimate from a local marine mechanic. I would do the work myself, but I don't have the special tools, nor do I want to buy them for one use. I already have the outdrive off. So, some of the work is done. ( I know that is the easier part) Any input would be appreciated.

thats not a bad price at all. how much did the parts cost u. i just had mine done last week for 575, with some other little seals changed aswell. just have them do it and you know its done right and have nothing to worry about for a long time.

Thanks for the input. I found an aftermarket kit complete with gimble bearing, bellows, gaskets and seals for $80 on ebay. My only reservation is quality. Not sure until I see the kit. OEM replacement kit is $200. I hate to skimp on quality, but I don't have alot of spare cash right now.

I agree, price sounds good... and I agree about having a mechanic do it.. I too am a do it yourself kinda of guy, but there are just some things that I don't want to risk. The bellows seem straight forward, everything else, not so sure.

Merc OEM bellows kits are much better quality, and last longer than aftermarket. Ask just about any marine mechanic and they will say the same thing. To me, they are worth the extra $$.
