Re: Water pump and exhaust
I believe it is like the Bravo 1 which has a sea water pump on the motor itself. On my 454 its on the lower left part of the motor if you're looking straight at it. On the v8's its actually on the backside of the fuel pump housing (they come off as one unit and you then separate the sea water pump off the backside). I just replaced mine yesterday, and its a pretty simple job.
Some guys say they go through one or two every season, and I've seen them last 3-5 years. Just depends how much boating you do and if you're in sandy shallows a lot. Just don't crank the motor AT ALL with no ears hooked up. I did that to check if a battery had juice and thats what did mine in. Oops...
This is what I used for reference:

If your had one it will be pretty obvious as it will be belt drive and it will have two big hoses coming out of it.
On the manifolds, that would have a lot to do if its been run in salt, properly winterized every season, etc. I've seen boats form the 80's with the originals, so there really isn't a rule of thumb on how often to replace.
HTH!
