Here's where they typically install the "Thru-Hull' exhaust on the 96 Talaris (the red circle area), of course it helps if you don't have trim tabs.... Now some have installed the exhaust at the ends of the swim platform (yellow circle area) but this will require a custom exhaust flange so it lays flat on the stepped area.

Just remember, if you install them in the red area, make sure the exhaust outlets have water flaps installed. With a 454Ci motor and 1/2 full tank, the warter line is just above the top of the transom mount while at rest. that means if you're criusing aroung and shut down quickly, it very possible that water's going to wash right into the outlets.
