Question Boat cover snaps

What is a good way to replace a cover fastener snap that has come off of the boat? I was thinking of screwing the fastener to the boat but can't find a screw fat enough to match the existing screw hole in the boat or with a small enough screw head to set below the fastener...... ?

    Hi Billyclub,

Sounds like the hole is striped out. Same thing happened on my SeaRay years ago... Fixing it will be a snap! (pun intended ) I recommend filling the existing hole with a marine epoxy or my favorite for things like this, JB Wield, let dry thoroughly then drill a pilot hole for a screw that fits inside your snap (if you still have the original screw, you can just re-use it).

I used the JB Weld and it worked great allowing me to secure the snaps. Thanks.
