Question Bump strip replacement

I have a 2 foot chunk of bump strip missing off the bow. Should I attempt to cut and patch it, or is it just easier to replace the entire thing? If so, any tricks?

I originally had an black aluminum rub rail with a black rubber insert on my 95 Talari. When the aluminum got nicked up, it looked like crap. I resplaced the entire rail with a black rigid vinyl rail with a stainless insert which is what Mariah started using on their newer models in the 90's. Anyways, check out Taco's web site which covers most any type for the specs, etc as Mariah used Taco rub rail for their production I believe. You should be able to source it from any good marine supply...I ordered mine through the local West Marine store here in Arizona.

I'd just replace the whole thing.

Here's a good thread with tips and links: Replacing Rub Rail
