Default New Mariah Owner Question

I Bought a 222Shabah on labor day and love the boat I was just wondering how hard it is to install a wake tower on a Mariah and if any stregthening needs to be done to the hull at attachment points if so what does it require. I've been looking at the sampson towers but if i'm going to spend that much should i just have a custom tower made? I live in Houston and there are some very good shops around that can build towers and also put blocking in the hull if need be. Love the site and love Mariah boats they are real head turners.

Hey Rob, most towers should come with reinforcement for the attachment areas. I have an H2O tower from BigAirPylons.com., which lays back and breaks down. From what I understand though, a solid tower (doesnt break down, one piece) is much more sturdy. I have had no issues with that, but this is what some people at the Tige place told me. They seem to like their Monster Towers, which I hear have great deals on them right now.

You can check out my profile and see my boat. Good luck!

    Hi Rob,

Speaking of Samson Waketowers, take a look at this thread, it should have the info you're looking for... Click here

So no one ever puts any blocking with fiberglass to stregthen to hull at the mounting point? The main thing I am tring to do is avoid stress cracking from pulling with the tower? Is there any aftermarket towers like the sampson that dont fold down? It seems like a fixed tower would be the strongest and i dont have to worry about the hieght as far as storage is concerned.

A lot of companies make towers, a few I can think of off the top of my head, (in no particular order)

    Extreme Custom Fabrication and Powdercoating
    Trick Towers
    Towers Unlimited of Western Michigan
    Taylor Towers

The Taylor Towers use wood backing plates as well as epoxy to strengthen the mounting points. Plus it's a damn good looking tower, if I had more money, I'd put one of theirs on!
