    Try these sources:

    http://www.ig4x4.com/cat23_1.htm

    and on EBay motors there is a dealer called Great Lakes Skipper with these links;

    Here's the accessory switches:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=320189685895

    and the blank lighted switches:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=320207716137

    here's a anchor/nav switch
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=370026816926

Note that they don't list the Carling part number on there. They list a GLS part number.
(copied from Z275's post of March 03rd...)

You can also do a search on our website for "Carling Contura rocker switches".

    Hi Paul,

If you mean the round knob switch next to the ignition, then what your looking for is a three position rotary switch made by Sierra and it's available from iboats. Click here or call 1-800-914-1123

The switch on our Mariahs comes with the optional light module mounted on the shaft before the knob: 1) main switch body w/ Left on, center off, right on, 2) light module w/two lights and 3) knob w/clear lens.

Part number for your switch body and knob is MP78730 and if you need the light module as well it's MP78910

Thanks for the link - any chance you have a similar source for the rheostat next to it?

    Thanks in advance

Sorry bdbyrnes, the second picture is not a rheostat, it's the light (illumination) module that sits on the switch shaft to indicate the switch position at night.
(OK, now I feel real stupid... Two and half hours after I posted this reply, Wham! I realized you weren't talking about the picture but rather the one on the dash...Duh!)

I am still trying to locate the rheostat dimmer switch. (If it's out there, I'll find it!)

I'll try to get under the dash later and see if my rheostat has any MFG sticker or part numbers on it

One last note, on our Talari and some of the other Mariahs, this same style switch operates the bilge blower. It's a simple on/off rotary and it does not have a light module, the part # is MP78710

    Cool switches

On my Talari, I have two switches there. The one on the left controls the nav. and instrument panel lights. The one on the right is the rheostat for dimming the instrument lights. I took my light switch out and found some corrosion coming from inside the switch. Only one terminal is getting power when the sitch is on. So, I rerouted both my nav. and instrument light wires and switch position light wire to that one post. Nothing is getting hot and all my lights work now. Just can't dim instrument lights. I would like to replace that switch with a correct one, if there is one out there. I did'nt notice any manufacturer name or part# on switch.

Hi Paul- We have the same setup and thanks for sharing since I have been behind there with a wire tester and after all these years of owning the boat I was too focused on other things to troubleshoot the switch.

FYI--- I pulled out the rheostat and I will double check, but fairly certain there was no part number.... I'll walk out and check again.

Hi WetWilly --- I am going to order the switch today and - I know this sounds stupid - but the light inidcator module is to visually show what 'mode' the switch is in: i.e. red for nav, green for nav/dash.

    Am I catching on?

    Thanks, Brent

    Hi Bret,

Yup, you got it, that's all the module does!

Now for the dimmer switch.... I removed my dimmer and wouldn't you know it, it isn't made by Sierra, that's for sure! It looks like it was made "in house" and they added some heat shrink tubing to the end of the shaft so a Sierra knob would fit on it so all the dash knobs would match.

Now for some better news, it's a simple two wire affair consisting of a half dozen resisters, couple of transistors, hand full of diodes, two capacitors and the rheostat.

Now, all I have to do is source the transistors and rheostat, and possibly Radio Shack for the rest and we can repair our own dimmers or maybe it's just easier to just replace it with a newer one and remount the Sierra knob on it as Mariah did.

    WetWilly-

Any luck ever finding a suitable rheostat? I have the light switch next to it working...

    Thanks,

    Brent
