Default Electric Fuel pump?

Sorry if i missed this in my searching the forum but I didn't find much. Took my 1995 Mariah Talari 180 out for second time today. Ran great for three hours my first time out last Sunday. Today all the kids and grandkidss came expecting a day of tubing and boarding. Launched and taxied out past the no wake area and pushed it up to about 3500 rpm. Started to plane out and it quit. No sputtering or any other symptom. The only thing i could determine on the lake is that it is not getting fuel to the carb. None at all. Pour in a little to prime and it fires immediately but dies due to no gas.

How do I check the electric fuel pump to make sure it is working? Could the filter water separator cause this behavior? Air temp was right at 100 today but it was the day it ran well too. Wonder about vapor lock.

By the way there is what appears to be a circuit breaker on the top side of motor near the back. And is is connected to _______?

Thanks for any problem solving steps. Called the largest boat service company in town to have them look at it but their policy is they will not work on any boar that is pre 1998.

You can disconnect the fuel pump line from the pump where it leads to the carburetor and then crank the engine a couple of times to see if fuel comes out. If not, then your fuel pump has failed and needs to be replaced. Its very easy to diagnose and replace on your own. I just replaced mine and the local Mercruiser dealer wanted $400+ Cdn for it. I found a NOS unit on eBay for $100.
