"Dry weight" value in the catalogs means what? For some reason, I thought the stated weight was for the boat, engine, and drive together. But I recently weighed my boat and found it to weigh about 3600 lb, not the 2500 stated in the catalog/brochures. I know the 5.7L/Bravo3 combo weighs about 1100 lbs and that would make the difference. Have I been mistaken about my boats weight all along?? If so, I am sure glad I installed a 6000 lb lift instead of a 4000 lb one.

Also, I know I have to add the gas weight but that's only 50 gallons at 6 lb/gal (300lbs)

Great question. I always assumed the weight listed was like motorcycles as a dry weight. You would need to add for the change frome the base engine to your 5.7L, plus all accessories, plus wet items (oil, fluids, gas). Does the wet weight count against your maximum capacity?

Dry weight is the weight of the boat with nothing in it. No gas, no water, no water skis, life jackets, eta. Just how heavy is it when it rolls immediately of the assembly line.

A very good question to which I have never got a straight answer. It is probably manufacturer dependent. My thought has always been that "dry" weight includes the base model engine if it is an i/o. It is not included if it is an outboard.

If that is the case, then there is about 800 lbs (1100 lb difference minus 300 lbs for a full tank of fuel) of unaccounted weight in my boat. I certainly do not have more than 100 lbs of additional items. Is it possible for a Z-option boat to have over 700 lbs of additional weight?

Maby. I have a Z version too. Between the water pump the hoses, extra wiring, water holding tank, and a bunch of other stuff.

Gary the listed weight is typically the base model. So from 4.3 alpha to yours you are looking at 150 Lbs extra pounds. Add in the oil and other fluids plus gas for the wet. Z models have the fiberglass side panels as well. Toss on your bimini, ski equipment, tower, sound system, multiple batteries. And a cooler full of beer

Was it on a trailer when you weighed it? Dry weight doesn't include the trailer.

No, it was on the lift. I used a 1000 lb capacity crane weight scale on each end of each of the two support slings (total of 4 readings). I subtracted the weights of the slings and accounted for the cable deviations from vertical.

There is no water holding tank, ski equipment, or tower.
