Default Trans Light Switch?

I just purchased a 275 Shabah that needs a little work. In testing all of the switches, the "trans l" switch does nothing, and i cant figure out what it is supposed to do. (I'm assuming its is transom light?). The transom light comes on with the navigation lights. Is this switch supposed to turn on the transom light on its own? I am planning on replacing all switches as they are worn. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe that switch turns on the light that illuminates the swim platform. It is mounted on the transom.

It is indeed supposed to turn on the transom light on the rear swim platform.

My guess is that the wiring has been modified by the previous owner so it runs on the navigation light switch. I've been asked a few times by my dock neighbors why my transom light doesn't come on with nav lights, (like theirs do). Mariah gave us the option to use it or not.

As a licensed captain, I can tell you that the only required stern light is a white light with a 135 degree arc. Both the transom, and the all-around stern/anchor light fit this requirement individually. So as long as you're using one of them, you'll be OK. I don't know that I'd recommend using both at the same time, as this could be problematic for nighttime navigation for boats approaching you from behind!

    Hope this helps!

If your switches work you can just replace the Actuator like these.

Carling Contura 2 Actuator W Black with Red Box Lens

They sell a cheap tool that pops the actuator off I replaced all of mine, the new ones are not rubber coated and should hold up better.
