Hello All

I'm installing the original style light switch on my 95 272 barchetta. ( someone removed the original)
I have the light switch hooked up right, turn to port and its the anchor light, / center OFF, and turn to starbard its all the lights. What I need to know is the function of the red / clear / red led... plate that installs with the switch ???
Do'es it need to come on with either of the 2 on positions?

How many contacts are on the back of the module? My guess is there will only be two since I can't find any good pictures or a schematic for it. If there are only two contacts one will be ground and the other power. I think the module only lights up when in either "on" position, but I would have to check mine to verify. If it uses normal incand lamps, it doesn't matter which side is power and which is ground. If it uses LEDs (which I doubt), it will only work one way.

The module has 2 lugs. I know one will be negative, I dont know how to energize it from the 2 power lugs on th light switch? The original wiring uses a resistor to keep from powering all the lights in either position, ( backfeed). I need power to the module when the switch is in either of the 2 on positions.

If there was a resistor, it was to limit the current to the light if it was a LED, but it wouldn't prevent "back-feed," as you call it. To do what you're describing would require two diodes: One between the indicator and each source. And if the light is an LED, you still need a current-limiting/voltage-dropping resistor or the LED will get VERY bright, VERY briefly, and then go *poof*.

This thing didn't come with any wiring instructions?

Oh... wait (slaps forehead): There's only one indicator, right? And the switch turns on nav (both bow and anchor) or anchor alone. So it's simple: The indicator is wired between ground and the anchor light terminal. But you may still need that resistor, if it's an LED indicator and it doesn't have one built-in.
