Question Z268 Wiring

Greetings! I purchased my first Mariah last week... a 2001 Z268. Overall, it looks to be a great boat. I wouldn't call it a project boat, but it does need a little work and a little love. The trim tabs didn't work when I got it. That problem turned out to be an undersized fuse. That was my first hint at some bigger electrical problems. There are two stereos: one at the helm, and the other down in the cabin. Neither work. Did the boat come with two stereos originally, or was that a mod? I'm trying to figure out how the speakers were wired. There is a remote "puck" back on the swim platform which I'm guessing was originally connected to the helm stereo. There is also a Pioneer amp mounted above the closet in the cabin. I think it must have originally been connected to the helm stereo also.(?) The stereo in the cabin is getting power on the switched power wire, but nothing on the continuous 12v line. I'd like to trace that wiring harness, but it disappears down between the closet wall and the head wall. After I'd messed around with both stereos for a couple of hours and accomplished nothing, I successfully started popping a 20a fuse in the fuse box. I can't figuree out what the fuse goes to. Can anyone help me with how to acces the cabin stereo wiring harness, how many original stereos, fuse assignments, and console switch functions? Thanks in advance.

    Default Re: Z268 Wiring

I realize this is thread is a few months old, but I'm interested in seeing how this turned out as the stereo unit in the cabin of my potential 2000 268 is not powering on either.

Did you fix it? If so, what steps did you take? What insights did you glean? What, if anything, would you have differently given the chance to do it again?

    Thanks
