Default 2000 222 prop

Hey guys I have a 2000 222 with a 5.7 liter and was wondering what prop ya'll are using for best top end speed. I don't pull skiers maybe a tube here and there. We just love cruising the lake I am running an ss 21 pitch now only hitting 4600 and about 43 mph. Wanting to buy a new prop and I'm thinking an ss 19 pitch.

19 pitch will give you better acceleration, but don't think it still increase your speed. You definitely don't want to go higher than 21 as it will work your engine harder.

I have a 202z with 5.0 We ran a SS 21 for a couple of years. Performance was lacking - partly due to elevation (4,700ft). Top end was somewhere around 46mph, but holeshot wasn't great, especially when loaded.
Switched to a Mercury Hi-Five SS 19. Improved holeshot and top end stayed about the same. We've been happy with it, although it was expensive.

With a 19 pitch, your top rpm will probably bump to 4800 which is where you want it to be.

I would install Smart Tabs as a start.

They are great for keeping on plane at low speeds for pulling tubes and you'll be amazed what it will do for your boat's performance.

Search Smart Tabs on these forums and you'll find a lot of testimonials.

Best thing you can do for your boat for under $200!

Thumbs up Re: 2000 222 prop

I fully agree with Paul about trim tabs. I install them on my last boat and this one and it is always a HUGE difference in performance. I may loose 1-2 mph on top end but it is worth all the benefits gained. Better hole short, better control, staying on plain at lower speeds.
