Hello, anyone have some input on which stainless prop to run. My father bought it this summer and it has the 4.3 carbureted motor 190 hp. The tach isn't working either but thought I saw people report you can send them in under warranty? He is looking for more top end but pulls the tube a bit as well. Any recommendations and gains reported over the aluminum prop is appreciated. I did advise him he needs the tach fixed to see what the prop is doing, believe the speedo shows around 46 at w.o.t. right now.

It will help to know what prop is on the boat now. Take a few minutes to read the sticky entitled "Basic Prop Rules".

Believe he said 19 pitch and is aluminum. Read the info already on props just thought there may be a few out there with a favorite brand, ect. I know it should pull a 21 pitch but need to get the tach working, it just sits at 600 rpm or so.

If you want the boat to pull tubers etc., a 21" prop is not the way to go. If it has a 19" - 3 blade the only way you will get yourself a slight increase in top end (maybe 1-2mph) & still pull tubers fairly easily is to go to a 20" - 4 blade SS prop. That said, you could always buy a 21" and use it just for cruising then swap out for the 19" when you want to pull the kids around on tubes. I personally run the 20" - 4 blade Apollo SS because swapping props can be a pain in the a**. You might also want to consider adding a pair of Smart Tabs which will help get you on plane faster, keep you there longer and improve the high speed stability of the boat. Faria tachs do have a lifetime warranty IF there is something wrong with the tach. Most of the time problems with the tach are due to poor/corroded wiring connections. Check each of the connections by taking them apart & cleaning them. Then, give the small dial on the back of the tach a spin or three and re-set it at "6 cyl".
