Does anybody use a K&N Flame arrestor.... I've seen some pics online of some 7.4l mercs with them....... Found them for $65 bucks on ebay. Any opinions??? Thanks

I have used a K&N on my 7.4 MPI for years. Needed to replace my stock flame arrestor as the aluminum fins had corroded due to long time exposure of salt air. The K&N was less expensive than the stock replacement.

    Thanks for the response....
Did you notice a performance increase replacing the stock arrestor with the K&N.
I'm just a shade tree mechanic but that stock arrestor looks small for this monster 7.4

I can't say that I noticed any substantial performance increase but the whistling my engine produced seemed to decrease somewhat. It used to whistle both accelerating and decelerating. Now I only hear a whistle in a short RPM band on deceleration.

I use one on my 5.7 merc. Love it and have used k&n products for years on other vehicles great product.
