Default Bravo three ticking noise

Boat is in the shop again. Just had the prop seal replaced, got it home and hooked up the earmuffs, fired it up and heard a slight whirring noise and a ticking (a very light knock) coming from the upper gear unit or gimbal area. Wasn't doing this before the seals were replaced and had recently put a new gimbal bearing in. U joints were in good shape and it makes the noise regardless if it's in gear and doesn't get worse or better if the steering is turned or not. Any ideas? It's been sitting in line at the shop for three weeks and I keep getting the run around of when they can look at it

As long as you have a few nuts, bolts and screws left over after the job is done, it should work!

Do you know if they changed the gear oil when they replaced the prop seal? If they didn't I would check the gear oil level, then drain the oil and check for any contamination(ie. metal). If no problem is found there, I would probably pull the outdrive and check for any slack in the upper drive shaft that passes thru the gimble bearing. While that is off you can also again check the u joints, gimble bearing, gimble bearing housing, shaft alignment, etc. But I would start with the gear oil first.
    Hope this helps
    Dan
