Default stalling problem on my 1999 Shabah 4.3

Boat was running fine then all of a sudden stalled like someone turned the key off..It started back up and began to take off and it died again..Now it repeats itself doing that all the time..Took me forever to get back..LOL. it does always start and will begin to run rough then die out almost like it is starving for fuel..Fuel filter is clean, added some dry gas and just removed water fuel separator filter and it did have some water but not full...My gear lube resevior was low and alarm sounding but that wouldnt cause it to die would it?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Have a look at this site for info on the sticking check valve in Mercruiser 4.3's.

I changed the oil pressure sensor and still the engine will run for a bit then die out..Like there is no fuel, I looked in the carb and gave it some gas and there was no fuel was coming out of the squirters..I checked all wires to fuel pump loop and all appear to be ok..I only heard the fuel pump kick on once or twice then nothing..I removed the pump and hooked it directly up my car battery and it appeared to work out-well atleast have a little pressure to it but not much...I am to my end and not sure what else to do..Could the pump still be bad?? or do I need to look else where???

Again any help is appreciated and also is there a tank filter that could be giving me grief, I cant see the fuel tank to check it..What else would cause the pump to turn off and not start back up while instlled on the engine??

Dan, we had these same symptoms and changed fuel pump and fuel filter, the check valve is in the top of your fuel tank at the end of your fuel supply hose....good luck!

How do you get to the fuel tank, there is a small hole under the floor where the hoses go?? I cant see anything up there nor do I know how to get to it?

The way ours is set up is you open the engine compartment in the front of the compartment there are two chrome strips, one on each side, take the screws out there should be two of them lift the panel off and you should be able to see the fuel tank
