i have an 180SE Shabah from 1998 and when i wanted to write down the serialnumber etc. so i could order parts for a smaal maintenance i couldnt find it
I thought they where on the cover of the air filter but in the space thats reserved for the engine and drive number on the cover there no numbers stamped in...
The only number i found was GM 12552422


can one of you guys help me out where to look ?

My engine, transom & drive serial numbers are stamped on the flame arrestor cover along with the engine info. I believe the engine # is also stamped on the rear of the engine but you may need a mirror to see back there. Failing that, you can also call Merc direct at 405-743-6566 to ask a tech

Thanks Mikey, didnt know that thing is called a flame arrestor... I checked it out and its like factory new, normally thats a good thing i suppose but it hasnt got any numbers stamped in it.
So i will take a mirror like you said and have a look..

Hello Mikey, i took a mirror and looked all around the engine but no numbers at all... i even made a few pictures from the back side so i could check them out on my big screen tv for a better view but theres nothing there
I know the boat is 200% legit so i dont have any doubts that the number isnt removed or something else like that but i cant stand the fact that i cant find the engine serial number


The only numbers i could find are the GM number thats casted in the metal and a sticker on some kind electrical device that says 4.3L/LX ALPHA with a 7 digit number above it..



any more advice ???
