Question type Numbers

Hi all,
Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how Mariah came up with the numbers for the types.

For example: my Shabah 203 I always assumed stands for 20,3 feet. But than I see others with a shabah 202 from around the same year on the forum.
Also I see people with a shabah 180 where one of my friends just got a 182.
Now assuming I'm right in thinking size, I'm sure that there would not be a different model for the sake of 0,1 foot.

So what is the deal?

We've got a few ex-Mariah employees who belong here, hopefully they'll be able to help answer this question.

One thing I've noticed is when they changed from the Davanti, Barchetta, and Diablo models to the Shabah and Talari names in the mid 90's, they changed the model numbers.

This thread starting at post 5 has some of your answers.

Post 11 in this thread talks a little about how the names came about.

Thanks blockp, that really helped a lot already. Sorry for the late reply, I was away for a bit...

I'm still a bit confused now though, as in one of the threads it is said the '3' at the end denominates an outboard engine. Better not tell that to the 4.3 VolvoPenta it came with. It might hurt it's feelings.
