I can tell you that i Drag race my motorcycle at the orlando drag strip atleast twice a month for the pasts 5 years and have always used amzoil synthetic ever since i broke her in at 1,000 miles she now has 20,000 miles of hard drag racing on it and still runs as strong as the day i baught her ( for all of you that dont know about motorcycles 20,000 miles is extremely high for a bike) I would recommend amzoil to any body that wants to try it. I have been a bike mechanic for about 10 years and have always recommended it. and i also agree with everyone else on not to mix synthetic with regular oil but suggest that anyone thinking about switching to synthetic please use motor flush before doing so. (I recommend Gunk 5 minute motor flush)

    Thumbs up Re: Engine oil

We've been an advocate of Amsoil lube products for many years. Have never experienced any problems associated with the oil /lubes we've been using in our Mariah & Formula. Most of us believers that have a season, believe in a straight 30weight because we don't boat in cold weather so no need for a multi-grade. Amsoil offers a great discount program that takes some of the 'pain' out of the equation...

All of our snowmobiles and sea doo's have amsoil in them. Actually, the dealer where we buy all our ski-doo snowmobiles and sea doo jet ski's has amsoil right on the shelf. I didn't see the BRP oil there.. We run amsoil in some of our pick ups with plows. They have all synthetic in the trans, motor, rear end, ect. Love it and have NEVER had a problem.

I have read some recent studies done on synthetic oils and they show that Mobil 1 is not as good as Valvoline Synthetic and Castrol Synthetic. I'll see if I can locate the sites where I found the study and ship it over. I have been a loyal Mobil One person for years in all my vehicles.

First off, once you go synthetic, you cannot go back. You should also never use synthetic until the engine is well broken in. In a car it's recommended at 6,000 miles. If you try and break an engine in on synthetic, the rings will not seal, yes it's that slippery. It's also not for use in pre 80's engines, as in small and BB Chevy’s from the 60's and 70's, they will develop oil leaks within 200 miles of use, crazy huh?Dino oil is just that, old dead Dinosaurs, that decomposed into crude oil, they leave deposits, and gunk on the internals after about 30,000 miles. Synthetic, has none of this, and maintains its viscosity far better than Dino oil. As for using 15w 50, that’s a bit heavy, does your engine pull good revs? It’s also a nice load on the crankshaft. 15w 30 is whats used in Corvette racing engines, they run Hi revs for a long long time. However if you are in a very, very warm region, and it works for you, it won't hurt other than higher oil psi, and slower revving.
I swear by it, having been using it for over 15 years, in all vehicles, and in car applications, I change it every 6,000 miles.
What weight of Mobil 1 synthetic do you use for your boat?
