Default Fuel Pump Problem on 4.3

Hey all,

Just getting at winterizing my 4.3 carburated V-6 and am having problems.

Starts fine and runs until out of fuel, say 45 seconds at idle. Hit the starter and runs fine again until out of fuel. This all new after sitting about a month on the trailer, ran like a champ all season.

I've changed the fuel filter and there is sufficient fuel on board. I loosened the fuel line at the carb and rolled her over, lots of fuel squirting while rolling over.

Tighten line and start, loosen fuel line while it's running and it's dry, nothing, nadda.

If I recall, GM likes to control fuel pumps with the oil pressure sensor. Could this be the problem? I changed the oil filter and it acts the same regardless.

I did trace the fuel pump electrical leads to a brown electrical device shaped like a disposable lighter with a diode symbol (I think). Pulled the device out of circuit and it ran the same. If I disconnect the fuel pump leads won't start at all (this I would expect).

Anybody have an idea?

Cheers,

Y

    Fugetaboutit,

    Oil pressure switch.

Anybody know of a generic replacement switch part number? I'm sure the Quicksilver unit is astronomical $.

    Cheers,

    Y
