Default New Mariah boat owner

Hi, I'm a new Mariah boat owner and greatly appreciate the abilty to ask questions and view related topics and products/services from others related to Mariah boats. I just purchased a 1998Mariah Z260 from a broker, so I was unable to obtain a great deal of information about the past history of the boat. The boat did not come with manuals and after a bit of research it appears Mariah manuals are not all that helpful.

It appears to be a very solid boat with upgrader features that I have not had on my previous boats. I have three questions regarding the following:

1. The PowerLight does not activate when you turn on the Navigation lights, any ideas?
2. The Speedometer does not work, it has a paddlewheel (GPS does not work) and it appears a
pick-up tube in the lower unit which I believe is connected to the dash speedometer.
On a 1998 Z260, is the dash speedometer connected to the lower unit or is the paddlewheel
pickup?
3. Helm seat does not work. Has anyone retro fitted to a manual adjusting seat by passing
the electric fore and aft function?

Thanks
Gerry, new guy to Mariahs

    Hey Gerry ,
    Welcome
More than likely you have bad or corroded connections at the light. Try cleaning connections and verifying you have power at the light.
The paddle wheel is for the odometer/temp sensor. Check out this thread.

The speedo is hooked to the outdrive. Try back blowing air thru the line with compressor. Just don't get crazy with it you'll blow the tubing from the fittings.
As for the seat.....try connections again and test at seat. If all fails , you can get a swivel/slide mount from about any marine store. Swivel-Eze makes one that I like.

    Once again welcome!

Thanks Larry, I will try your suggestions to check out the electrical connections and fuses and back blow the pick up line in the lower unit.

You can probably repair the drive motor for the seat if it is bad. It is basically a automotive style power window motor.

One other thing about the power stern light, check to make sure it's not a manual version. If the light illuminates when the switch is flipped, but the pole doesn't raise, chances are you may have an "Extend-A-Light" which is a manual version of the "Powerlight". That's how my Z280 is, not sure if it was that way from the factory, or if it was replaced by the previous owner.

Also check the fuses, could be a bad one?
