Default Sloppy steering

Hello all, I have just purchased a 95 Mariah Z212 that runs like new but has loose steering, it is not bad but I am not sure if it can be tightened up at all. This is our first boat ever and it is just the boat we wanted understanding it will need some TLC. Any ideas would be great.

If the slop is in the gimbal ring there are a few options to fix it. Tightening the U bolt on the gimbal is not a good idea- the ring will crack.
    Bravo or alpha drive?
