Question 1991 Mariah, "HELP"

Hello Everyone! I'm now a Mariah owner and need some help. I brought it out into the water a couple times and it broke down !! Now that the engines fixed while I was on the water the bilge pump failed. My guess is it was a fuse, wheres the fuse box? Another problem was the front end of my boat was sticking up like the Titanic. I adjusted the trim with the switch and it didn't help much at all. I'm new to boating, 19, and inexperienced! Any help would be great. Thank you all!!!

-Corey

The fuse panel location depends on the model but it's most likely under the dash.
The other issue, you'll want to start by posting what info on your prop (pitch, blades). When you're trying to get on plane, you should be trimmed all the way down/in.

I believe the model is "Diablo".. I had the trim switch all the way down and it did not change much? There is also a switch on the throttle arm where your thumb sits. Doesn't this switch have something to do with trimming the boat? The switch doesn't do anything, maybe its bad? I'm new to boating and was looking all over online for a owners manual and still can't find one. I appreciate all you're patience and tips!

By your thumb is most likely your Trailer switch. The trim switch should allow the drive to come up 1/4 of the way or so and then stop, where it's still safe to operate at speed. Then, the trailer switch brings the drive the rest of the way up for trailering.
There should be yet another button that allows you to throttle the engine without putting the drive in gear.

The manuals for the Mariah's are pretty generic but definitely helpful for a total newbie. If you make a monetary contribution to the site then you'll have access to them.

    Did you find your fuses?

I think that the switch by your thumb is your trim switch. The trailer switch is at the bottom of the throttle control. Dredd is right about how they work though. On an older boat the first thing to check is the connections for corrosion/tightness etc.

Good point, Mikey. I was assuming he'd figured out the trim by what he said but, maybe not.
I couldn't find a pic of a Merc throttle... hope I don't ever need one. But here's the standard layout of the controls.
