Default Question on Mariah Shabah "kicking out"

We have a 1995 Mariah Shabah 202 that we bought last summer. The boat seems to "kick out" or "roll" to the side more so as we go down the lake. Turns are uncomfortable also as they are not tight and feel as if the boat is "kicking out". Is this common? How can we fix this? Boat is great otherwise! Thanks for your replies.

Not sure why this was posted in the "New Mariah" section......

I've never experienced kickout or rolling on our Z252, granted it's a bigger boat. This may have to do with engine trim, just going too fast or potentially the prop isn't sized correctly. You may also want to look at putting trim tabs on. Smart Tabs are a great option for that.

are you talking about it "rolling" to the side while you are going straight? I'm having the same issue with my 238. Whale tail makes it a lot worse, but I'm pretty sure that my boat being way overpropped is causing the leaning issue... I'd look into the prop. Also, is your skeg broken off?

What will a broken skeg do, I have some missing on mine and wondered if it would make a difference.

A broken or missing skeg will definitely cause a little kick-out or wobble while cornering. So will being trimmed out too far in turns. A hard fast turn usually requires a little trim down/in. Its unlikely the prop has anything to do with the problem.

Thank you all who replied! Does anyone know where I can get the original specs on this boat to see what size prop SHOULD BE on this unit. I bought the boat used so not sure if the owner before me may have changed the prop out.

Not sure what size engine you have but...yours likely came with a 19" prop.

Have to agree with mikeyt though not a mariah my 20' with a 400hp 5.7 had none of those issues unless trying to trun trimmed up to much and I ran props from 18-23 on it. Just my two cents as the new guy.
