Hello everyone, As of today I and im a new Mariah Boat member , purchased a Mariah Shabah 1995 z211. Its been sitting for a while , and while I wish I had the chance to put the boat in the water for a test , I was unable to because of a time deadline . I did however check oil in engine and lower outdrive for water and level, Motor started right up after about 3 tries. It was winterized. I Hooked up water to lower outdrive ran on idle for about 10 min temp never went above 170. So we will hope all goes well when put in water. Shifted fine in and out of gear.
This is my first boat i have ever owned. Looking forward to getting it cleaned up and ready . The owner had all original manuals, Looks like i need to buy a new hold down strap and battery,The traiiler is a ezload with a water hook up to clean out after use. 5.7 merc. Looking forward to chatting with everyone !

Not yet waiting for a trailer part to come in from ups. Planning Friday for boat test. But I am wondering if i should change the water pump impelor in out drive first . I read that if a boat sits longer then a year or so the impellor could crack .I wonder what the chance of that happing is ?
We did start boat to check , and its pumping fine. Then again I worry about everything !!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome Atec. If you are planning on an extended test run/party on the water you might want to change the impeller first. If you are just doing a quick test run to check everything out I would wait to see if anything else needs to be addressed. That way you only have to remove it once if u find another issue with the lower unit. A test out of the water with muffs and a water hose can give you a false reading on the condition of the impeller(I know from experience). With muffs and a hose the water going to the impeller is under pressure, forcing water into the engine(meaning you could do this test with no impeller at all and still get good temp readings). When in the water the impeller is sucking water and pushing it to the water pump on the engine. Whatever you decide to do watch your gauges and get your boat on a proper maintenance schedule including periodic impeller replacement. One more thing to pay attention to before dropping it in the water are the "boots" or "bellows" between the outdrive and the back of the boat, they deteriorate with time(not use) and they will let water in your boat. Okay I will shut up now and let you enjoy your boat. Great people here hope you enjoy your boat and the forum

    Happy Boating
    Dan
