Have a 1997 Mariah 198 Shabah picked out!

Hello all! We have finally picked a boat. Found a 1997 198 Shabah for $6500. New Interior, but no cover. We will be the 3rd owners. Owner said it needs a new starter...it supposedly 'just went out'. Is this going to be a challenge to replace? Nice to find a forum!! Excited to hear from everyone. Mark & Lori

Hi Mark & Lori and congratulations on soon becoming Mariah owners and welcome to the club!

Depending on how much room you have to access the motor, it shouldn't be that difficult at all. Just remember to replace the starter with one that is "marine" rated and not one for a car. Marine starters are rated "Explosion proof" for enclosed engine compartments.

If you need a storage cover for your Shabah, try Overtons.com, we have several members who have had good success with covers from them. Or, try doing a search on the forum for boat covers and you'll get a lot of good advice.
