Default 1999 Mariah Z 302 Shabah

I'm looking to buy a Mariah 1999 302 Shabah. Its 30 ft. THis being my first boat I would like some input on this manufacturer. Its a sweet boat and they are asking 34K. or best offer. I have searched and searched to find out if this is to high and details on this type of boat. Not much luck. Over the past few months I have looked at quite a few boats and this one has all the extras I'm wanting. I like the cuddy cabins and this one is in the middle and doesn't feel closed in like most. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

The Z302 models are very cool. The cuddy and bowrider arrangement is so practical, especially for families with children.

The quick story on Mariah is they made great quality boats which are "equipped like no other boat in the world". They are truly one of a kind boats that you'll have a hard time finding another boat to compare them to. They were made in Benton Illinois up until May of 2001, when the owner closed the factory due to financial reasons. It was costing him up to $75k a week of his own pocket to keep the business running, and with boat sales at record lows with all manufacturers, they closed their doors for good. The molds were sold to two different manufacturers, 25ft & up molds were sold to Challenger Powerboats and are marketed under the "FPS Family Performance Series" and the 18-25ft molds were sold to Sea Fox Marine, who has since purchased the trademark, and have redesigned the boats to be a more "affordable" boat.

$34k is a little on the higher side of the average price of them, but still not terrible. If you can supply more details like the engine size, and engine hours, that'll help us all make a more accurate judgement if it's a good deal or not. If you can post photos, or send us a link to it on the web, that'd be even better!

Regardless, you won't regret your decision by going with Mariah. We've got a great group of people here willing to answer any questions, and we can help you solve any issues that may come up.

I have been looking a lot lately and the 30 footers are going from $30,000 up to $45,000. Acutally, I have seen the 25 footers going for as much as 35k lately. Not to say any of these boats are worth that much, but as of late Mariahs seem to be selling for more than their nada value. A quick check of Nada puts the value between 30-38K but could be more or less depending on the exact options.

Here is a link to all Mariahs 1998-2001 in the US 28-31ft long. The price of the one you are looking at is reasonable based on some of the others I have seen. I am a big believer in buying what you like and want first and foremost, and not worrying about getting the best deal possible.
