Default Tips from Mariah techs

I have a 1999 z260, with the 7.4 MPI with the bravo III. Had many boats over the years, love doing motor rebuilds. Love this boat. Question I have, is the z260 motor hatch opening is very small. Have any of you guys pulled a motor that size through such a tight hatch? Any tips or experience in getting it out. Be great to hear from you.

I have pulled that exact motor three separate times from my Z280. Getting it out is no issue, it is getting it back in that is the trick. I use a load leveler bar so I don't damage the intake. My boat originally had a black water tank mounted to the front bulk head of the engine compartment, that has to come out to give you any chance. On the way back in the real trick is to get the rear motor mount bolts started. I use the boat yard crane to get me close then switch over to a chain hoist hung from a large timber across the gunwales for fine tuning. There is not a lot of room back there so you may have to remove everything from the sides of the engine compartment, batteries, water heater etc.
