Hello all, I’m new to the forum today. I am attempting to purchase a used Mariah boat that is advertised as a 2002 Mariah Z277. From everything I can find, there is no such year or model. It is a documented boat and the USCG website shows the boat as a 2001, but I’m still having trouble determining the actual model. Anyone have any advice on how to narrow this down?

This link is to the boat listing. This boat is the full bow rider, not a cuddy or center cabin. I have seen pictures of a 272 and 275, but they don’t match exactly. The HIN shows this boat is an 02, so that makes it even more confusing. There is also a small sticker on the side glass that says “Z277”. I talked to a local dealer who used to deal exclusively in Mariah boats and he said it was probably built in 01 and would’ve been a new model for Mariah in 02. But with them going out of business, the model was never produced in large numbers. Does any of this seem possible?

I have a 2002 180, but title shows an 01. The last two numbers in the haul number is the year. My understanding, seafox bought the rest of the completed 01 hauls and finished them.

That is a clean boat. I wish my upholstery was still original and looked that new. Sweet motor and drive package too.

So there was some discussion on MOC about 2002 Mariah boats a while back- I cant seem to locate it. Apparently there are a number of 02s out there from what I recall. Per the NADA site under Mariah Boats Inc the list goes to 2001 and for Mariah Boat Co it starts at 2003. Maybe this is a problem with the bank or insurance company. If you research the history of Mariah you will see that they did in fact go out of business and were purchased by Sea Fox in 2003 where they were produced as more of an economical vessel and not the " equipped like no other boat" kinda vessel . That particular boat looks really nice. If you were suspecting something fishy with the HIN just know there were Mariah boats made in 2002 by Mariah Boats Inc.

If you can, shoot me the hull ID number via PM and I'll clarify the model number for you. Towards the end of the 01-02 models, there were some prototypes being made in the 27ft range. The '02 model years were the last boats ever produced on the line by Mariah Boats Inc, (the original manufacturer) before they were sold to Sea Fox who started the '03 line.
