Last time I took my boat out, I noticed I was taking on a large amount of water. To top this off, my bilge was also not working. This past weekend I was able to address both of these issues. Now that I look back, it's a little scary.
Bilge problem ended up being a bad switch. Easy fix, use a spare ACC switch. I was afraid my bellows were worn out and I've have to change them. I just got this boat and I know it was used in seawater so I wasn't looking forward to it. So I finally got out to the boat again and took a look, here is what I saw.
The exhaust bellow had come clear off. Luckily, I was able to get it back on with the help of a friend. All it cost me was some cuts and sore fingers. I'm still not sure why this would of came off. It gets pretty hot down here so maybe going from hot to cold made the hose clamp slip a tooth. Who knows. I'll be checking it often tho.
The same thing happened to me last year during the hot summer. I was glad that I inspected the outdrive before leaving for the lake when I noticed the exhaust bellow was detached just like your pics show. I purchased a new exhaust bellow to replace the old one. I felt more comfortable having a new one than keeping the old one which hardens over time and through extreme seasonal temperature changes.
Hmm, thanks for the info. I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Maybe throw a new one on at the end of the season. I bet the exhaust bellow takes the most beating out of the 3. Hot exhaust on the inside, cold water on the outside.
