Default taking on water saga continued....

after spending $1200 on gimble bearing, circ pump, bellows we took the boat to the lake today and as soon as boat was launced I crawled into engine cavity and noticed the drain plug at the transom was the culprit the whole time!!! water was seaping in and that was the last thing we checked...DUH! Well the preventative maintance is done! Oh well....will replace with 2 inch drain plate and new 1/2 inch plugs. after I removed the plate I noticed that 1/2 of the gasket had deteriorated. That will be replaced and a new seal. Even though I was asked to look at the drain plug in a recent thread, It was always to late by the time we motored out there was already water above that point...Thanks for the great advice from everyone!...Dan

Glad to hear you finally got the problem resolved! And look at the bright side...now you dont have to worry about the other items.

That one of the worst thing to try and track down.. I know this is probably too late, and I haven't read all of the other threads. But I had a lot of luck using the equal and opposite reaction plan of attack.. Put a little bit of water in the hull and see where it comes out? No likes putting water in their boat.. But it works!!! Glad you found it..
