Default Question on Quick Connect Inlet Bravo 3

As I'm looking over my new boat, I see an inlet tube between the engine and Bravo III housing. It is listed on the parts diagrams as the Inlet Male Quick Connect, shown in the picture. Should something be connected to this? What is it used for?

I have found a few issues where the PO did not install things correctly, so an open tube like this worries me.

Anyone have insight on this thing?

That is the raw water inlet fitting. On my boat a hose is connected between this fitting and the inlet on the raw water pump on the front, starboard side of the engine. Is your raw water coming from a thru hull? If so, is the shown fitting blocked off properly to prevent water ingress?

Thanks for the reply, I'll double check the entire water loop now because it sure seems like something should be connected to it.

After a very tight and intimate look under the engine, I found a disconnected hose under the starter which does indeed connect to this fitting fro the raw water intake. ugh, I'm going through each system in detail now to make sure nothing else is incorrect before I fire it up.

I noticed the trim sensor wire on the outdrive broke, so there is one more thing on the list to do.

Good thing you checked, boat would have gone down quickly without that hose connected. Trim sensor is a tough one unless you are changing the bellows.

Yeah, always go with your gut feeling if something just doesn't look/seem right.

I'm going to try to replace bellows and the sensors, watching you-tube videos to see how difficult this task is.

Don't bother with exhaust bellows, replace with exhaust tube instead.
