Default Vinyl Cleaning

Actually SLP, I was referring to Vinyl Decal work, (revised my post).

But, have you tried Acetone? I know it sounds nuts, but one of Mariah's big selling points on their upholstery was the use of PreFixx, a vinyl coating that was applied on all vinyl surfaces as a stain deterrent. In the old Mariah brochures, it shows all sorts of stains, mustard, sharpie markers, paint, etc. It claims "All you need to do to remove stains is just wipe it clean with a towel and a slight bit of acetone."

    Default PreFixx

Found the PreFixx brochure in the Mariah binder. Sure enough, acetone/water can be used on the vinyl. Unbelievable. I will try the other cleaners and solvents listed before acetone. Also listed is :rubbing alcohol, min spirits, kerosene, naptha, and turpentine. But "dont get any sunscreen oils on the vinyl as it may stain".

Thanks to this brochure, I am now prepared to remove stains such as:
Revlon Lipstick, KIWI shoe polish, Canon Toner, Vitalis hair oil, baby oil, and French's mustard!
Geez! Wish I had read this prior to last summers party with the girls from the beauty salon.

Good One! Let us know how the Acetone works. I still have some stains from the cheap cover I bought last year that bled blue dye onto my seats.

I used it on one small section of my sunpad at the end of the season, and it's amazing how clean that one little area was.

Acetone?! I'm in the floor covering business, and we use acetone to chemically melt vinyl togeather. I would think you would have to dilute it alot, not to damage the vinyl. It's a great solvent, but I think I would use all the other cleaning methods first.

That's what I thought too at first, but they even show the vinyl being cleaned with acetone in one of the videos I have. It's also listed in the brochures too. Of course, they recommend it if other cleaners & solvents won't remove it first. I would slightly dilute it just to be on the safe side.
