Z204 Ignition Switch 1998

My ignition switch now turns 360 degrees when I turn the key and it needs to be replaced. I have a 4.3L Alpha One engine.
Wondering 2 things:
1) Is there a replacement part # anyone can provide for this?
2) Would love to keep the original Mariah Key and use it, is there a way to repair the old ignition switch and if not, is there a way to "re-key" a new switch if I buy it so I can use my old Mariah key?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Check the threads. I thought I saw a post about this winter/spring that they were able to buy a new swith and reuse the key.

Saw a link to someone who might supply keys and cylinders but it was from 2014. Went to send email and it kicked it back saying box was full, which I am guessing means they may not be answering that box anymore. Email address was:

Not sure he is around any more. You might try this as a last option.

I bought a four pinned ignition switch from Advance Auto Parts for less than $10.00. Took apart my Mariah key cover with a chisel, bent back round metal, replaced the key, use J-B weld for metal. Looks like new! On the switch, you might have to remove a backup nut for a tight fit! Remove the wires in exact order or you might have wires in wrong places like I did ( On is in the Accessories position ). DO NOT BUY AUTOMOTIVE IGNITIONS FOR MARINE PRODUCTS! Found out the hard way had to replace the switch the following spring!

How do you know the 4 pin one is the correct switch? I saw some that looked like 3 pin and some that maybe were 5 pin. I haven't pulled the old one off yet, and was hoping to buy the part in advance to this as boat is remotely located.

Look at the back of the switch and see how many wires are connected to it will tell you how many pins it is.

I found them on the Book of Faces and sent a message. If and when I hear back, I'll let you know. I need a key too

Re: Z204 Ignition Switch 1998

If you have the original key (the fob) mostly, the fob does come apart. There’s a seam on the edge that can be split apart to release the key. Apply some epoxy for metal the “glue” it back together. If you bend the plate, simply hammer it out between the flats of two hammers. Apply some epoxy on the edge, then add some weight until it cures. Good luck and I hope that helps
