Has anyone ever gotten the key cover off and put it over new keys when they're ignition module went?

    Yes. I opened mine this way only to decide to buy the entire key with FOB (?). My key is broke off in the ignition so I kinda got to. Also, I have a cabin door with a matching lock.
    I would have done it like you're going to do nut I cant get the keyed part out of the switch.
    But yes, I opened mine up to see that it is a regular key glued inside and then the whole thing was glued together
