Default Sea Fox Fuel Sender

Good afternoon everyone. I am new to the site and looking for help with my fuel sender. I have a 2003 230 WA and had to install a 10" hatch just to be able to access the top of the fuel tank / lines / fuel sender. I was able to confirm that the fuel gage is working and the sender needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, it is installed right under the rear storage compartment, which is keeping the sender from being lifted out. Of course everything in this area is either foam or molded. I am pretty handy and this is beyond frustrating. This is clearly a design issue and my mechanic is quoting at least two to three hours or labor (if he can get it out), on top of the $90 that I spent on the new sender. I could not even access the tank with cutting a hole and inserting the access hatch. I thought there was some type of Coast Guard regulation that the fuel tank / line connections had to be accessible? Does anyone have any ideas or suggested "tricks" to change this sender, without me chipping away foam and mold or paying a mechanic $350? Is Sea Fox liable? Thank you for the help.

Im not familiar with a Seafox 230 WA. You may want to check on TheHullTruth or another boating forum specific to Seafox. Pretty much everything on this site is Mariah specific.

Same exact thing happened to me with my 2003 210 cc sea fox legacy, I see it's been a year since your post and probably fixed it already but for future reference or someone else looking for a way to get the fuel sending unit out, it's so simple its funny of course this occured to me after many hours banging my head figuring out a way , just bend the fuel sender tube youre going to trow it out anyways, its hollow so its doable, I took it out all could then bend it to the side against the tank itself ( its really thick plastic on mine, if not try holding the tube with a wrench before bending to not damage fuel tank), after its bent you have more space to pull the round float straight up and just finish taking it out completly.

After it was out I was able to take out the float from the tube without using much force pulling and twisting it off evenly, so another way you could do it if for what ever reason cant bend the tube you can just pull and twist the tube until the round float falls off and just leaving it in the tank, of course its going to be harder because you'll be pulling and twisting diagonally

No worries about installing the new fuel sender, grab the float all the way up to stick it in last
