Default Smoother Wake for Water Skiing

Any tips on creating a smoother wake for water skiing? I have a 2001 Mariah Diablo. I'm not an expert skier by any means but I've skied behind other boats besides mine (including older boats that are definitely not as nice) and they've seemed to have much smoother wakes. My boat's wake seems very narrow and choppy and makes for difficult skiing.

I've been skiing with the trim all the way down and the throttle between 3/4 and 2/3 of the way down. Maybe a different speed or trim position would help?

Adding a pair of Smart Tabs will flatten out the wake a bit. If you have a look at "AndyB's" Smart Tabs video you will get an idea of what the wake looks like.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do own a hydrofoil that I haven't put on, I did some reading on smart tabs and it seems to suggest not using both. But perhaps the hydrofoil I already have would do something similar?

Is there anything I can do with the speed or trim itself to improve the wake?

If u install the hydro-foil over a pair of Smart Tabs then buy yourself a pair of Mickey Mouse ears to wear while you are boating also. You can try playing with the trim & speeds and it might have some marginal effect. I've seen anything from 21 - 26 mph as 'ideal' speeds for wakes but that likely depends on the boat that's doing the pulling. These boats just aren't designed for ideal wakeboarding/water-skiing wakes.
