My husband and I are new to boating and have just purchased a2000 Mariah Z212 Shabah with a volvo penta 5.0Gi Dp and are having a few teething probs with it when the boat was delivered it came with old petrol and had had a rough journey from the UK to where we live in Greece, there seems to be a lot of muck in the fuel so we know we have to clean the tank out but my other concern is - is there any adjustments on the carburettors where you can adjust the fuel mix, because on tick over the engine sounds perfect at half throttle the engine sounds like it is choking on fuel and a little bit before full throttle the engine sounds ok and at full throttle no more performance, would appreciate any info and probably this wont be my last question on here

before I started adjusting anything I would take the carb off and do a complete rebuild. (cleaning out all of the passages for the different circuits) If water and old gas have been sitting in it it might just be plugged up. Hope you have fun with the boat

Run the engine from a good source of fuel, ie a separate tank. Flush the line through with good fuel before you run. Also change the inlet screen to the carb and the fuel filter. a good blask of carb cleaner may be all that is required.. Once you have made the engine run, siphon/drain the boat fuel tank and fill it up full with good fuel. You should be ready to rock. There are carb balancing screws on either side of the carb and also idle speed control oif you need to make adjustments.

Thank you for your answers I am going to drain the tank soon and will look for some of the adjustments as you said but mine is the injection system and dont think that there is any adjustment also the boat is out of the water until May of next year so cant really do any testing til then

I assumed that when you asked about adjusting a carb that your boat had a carb. With the fuel injection you might have injector problems. You might want to service the complete fuel injection system from the fuel pump,pressure regulator,injectors,fuel line and fuel rails. You will want to make sure the tank is clean of any crap that could keep giving you problems and work your way through the system.
