Default Considering a 2008 SX18

Guys,

I'm new here and considering buying a new 2008 SX18.

How are the quality of the new Mariahs? I have heard the quality went down when Sea Fox acquired them. Is this true??

How does the Merc 3.0 perform in the SX18? Will I be able to wakeboard behind it with four passengers in the boat?

What warranty comes with the boat and engine package on a new left over 2008?

What is a good price for these with trailer?

Thanks in advance.

Craig

Yes, the quality did go down when Sea Fox acquired them, however it shouldn't be a limiting factor. They still use the original Mariah hulls, and similar construction methods. Sea Fox's philosophy with the Mariah line is "more for less". The interiors were redesigned and simplified. Sure it won't be as nice as one of the original Mariah Boats, but it's a nice boat, and still stands on top of many other entry level boat manufacturers.

The 3.0 engine in the SX18 will be fine, but don't expect it to be a speed demon. It's an economical engine meant for general cruising and light watersports. For wakeboarding, and carrying four adult passengers, you might want to consider the 4.3L engine, just because it's got a little more torque to get you up and running quicker.

Sea Fox Mariah offers a limited lifetime hull warranty on their boats, and you'll get a standard warranty on the Mercruiser engine as well, provided you're the first owner of the boat. These are non-transferrable, so if the boat's been owned before and you're looking for warranty, you might be out of luck.

Not quite sure, check around the internet, hit all the classified sites, like boats.com, iboats.com, boattrader.com, etc. Also make sure and check NADA blue book value.

We've got quite a few SX18 members on here who can help you out. Good luck with it, and we hope to see you part of the Mariah family soon!
