All my gauges have come loose - the bolts to the back of the panel have become unglued. I need suggestions for fix. Any help? My boat is a Z272.

Hello pblouin,

What I would suggest is a bit laborious but I believe it will give you the best results...

• Remove your dash

• Remove all the gauges from the dash

• Clean the bolts and the areas where the bolts mount with a good cleaner like acetone (Careful not to get any cleaner on the front side of your dash).

• Use an epoxy such as Marine Tex Flex Set Epoxy (it’s a flexible epoxy that stands up to vibrations and movement associated to boats better that a ridge epoxy could) and follow their directions and re-glue the bolts back on.

• When it’s all dry, reassemble the dash, test gauges and go out and enjoy.

After this, you shouldn’t have any problems with loose gauges.

Believe me, this is a big deal. I'm going through repairing mine now. I will share my experiences when it's finished, but it's been probably the worst project I've ever done.

But, my dash is completely different from yours. My dash uses injection molded plastic, which is incredibly thin and brittle. I would suggest the Marine-Tex method. It has proven itself to be a great product for all sorts of boating needs. If you have the capability to take some digital pics, please share them and we'll try and walk you through the whole project!

Hi Plouin I have a 2000 Z 272 open bow. Did yoy have much trouble taking your dash out or is there a way to get at the back of the gages. I want get at my tack and help would be great. Gary G

I need to remove the tach and speedo for repair. Does anyone have any advice on removing the dashboard. I have started with kick panel/Extinguisher box, windshield support and the nuts on the back of the steering wheel (under the dash). Is this as BIG a job as it seems....or am I doing something wrong?!?!
