Default Trailer Repair

Hey Mariah owners!

Lost contact with you all and have very limited time to the internet and also due to some changes in my employment in Auto Sales. Glad to have made the change and SALES has been better. Recently I was repairing one of my trailer tires and during the process of jacking the trailer up I heared some type of CRACK. So I proceeded to take off the tire when I noticed that the frame behind the rear hub was cracked half way. Took it to a Marina where he is now going brace and weld and possibly even straighten. He noticed the other side has a fracture starting to occur. The trailer is a 1997 PRESTIGE SINGLE AXEL FOR A 20FT OPEN BOW MARIAH and according to guy from the marina he thinks it is due to some type of factory access cirlcle holes on the frme for hub or brakes. I'm wondering if anyone has had this same issue.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL
PEACE TO YOU AND LOVE ONES

Have you contacted Prestige Trailer? There might be a recall, or they know how to fix the flaw.

It is unlikely it is from a hole, unless it is square or has sharp corners on it. More times than not is good old fashioned fatigue and use that would do this to trailer. Also, welding should be done by a welding shop. If they don't know what they are doing you can end up with a cold weld, or hardenning that could just make things worse. Welded areas are quite often more brittle than the original material. Also look at how you are loading the trailer and the forces and distribution through the frame. I would have thought that a 20' would be on a tandem, but that is just me.
