Default Flo Torq II question

http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/u...cury-p340.html

I purchased the Flo-Torq II kit last fall, along with a new Merc Black max prop to update the one that is currently installed on my boat.

Now, my sterndrive never came with Flo-Torq II kit installed on it (old style design). So when buying a spare prop, I had to update to the Flo-TorqII kit.

Now, sometime last fall... for some reason I believe there may have been an "updated" Flo-Torq II kit released at some point and I may have a 1st design kit sitting on a shelf at my cottage. Simply because, that is what was on the shelf of my local marine supply @ my cottage.

I have the SKU # from that above webpage. If I compare the 2 SKUs and they are different, would that infact mean there is a possibly updated kit?

Alternatively... would anyone know if there has been a new release of the kit to begin with?

If so, what was updated, what changed and it is really worthwhile to try and switch the 1st design (if applicable) with the 2nd design (if applicable).

thanks!

    Hey 180diablo,

I would think this is a question for the guys that made the kits, nothing like going back to the source...

Hmmm, never really thought about contacting them directly... lol. Downside would be, long distance phone bill to call them.

I might have to do some search on that other "boating" webpage to see about some information on it. You know, that boat webpage that has a similar wording to an "Ipod"...

thanks willy for the info tho!

    180diablo,

I run the same hub ( although it is rated for 400hp or less). I have ordered two new props in the last few months and the hubs were included. I have not noted a change from the old ones. I don't think you will have any problems with the fit. Also, If you have not already, be sure to get a spare to carry in case you spin a hub.
I think this one of the best investments you can make to protect a lower unit!

Hmm, yeah I guess I should invest in a spare hub kit. Since my old prop is no longer going to be used and it is the old style. I will be investing for a spare prop in the months to come. There is an aftermarket prop store near my cottage that I want to stop in to see what they have price wise. I picked up a brand new Merc Black Max 3 blade for about $170 CDN.

Well if there is no notable change, then I dont see a reason to swap. I just wondered if maybe there was a service bulletin out there about a possible weak hub kinda thing.

King's Propellors over on Honey Harbour Rd is another place that's full of used & rebuilt props... I got mine fixed same day there about 3 yrs ago when the 'better half' hit a rock with my old Stingray.

Hmmm, that is out a ways from my cottage if I remember which way Honey Harbour is.

There is a prop place in Orillia that I wanted to check out. I stopped in there once last season, but they werent open on a saturday...

The other place that was recommended is up in Bracebridge, the Prop Doc.
