I thought the 19 was probably as high as I would want as well ... however my local marina suggested I test out a 21p? They claim that they are coming on the new Glastrons they sell... do the new fuel injected 3.0L make more power?

I'm going to send that 19p i have off for a rebuild and run it again. I will swap over to the 17 if we are going to tube. The 19p was slow to get the Mariah out of the hole originally - but now with the smart tabs i'll be curious how much different it performs.

The new 3.0l mpi only has 135hp so only 5 more than yours if yours is sorted and too many ponies haven't left the stable...
And you have to remember, the new glastron is probably made like a paper bag!

I suspect you are right - or that the guy I spoke to at the local marina was full of it.

I also talked to a guy on ebay who sells nothing but props. He claims he has a marina and told me to switch from my 3 blade over to a 4 blade 15x16p. I wouldn't mind going to a 4 blade, but with an aluminum prop.. that leaves me one more blade to break.

Sooo.. I then talked to Laura at Piranha Props. She claims that their composite props are "stronger" than aluminum - and she linked me to a few videos testing the durability. She also linked me to a few different reviews, and told me that they would switch blades with me until I found the pitch I liked best.

I haven't been able to find any credible reviews... just a bunch of nay sayers.. that keep preaching that plastic props are junk. I'm actually thinking I might try one unless I get some actual feedback from someone that had a poor experience. Our river is full of debris.. stumps, rocks, and lord knows what. I've been able to smack 2 props since we've purchased the boat - and I like the idea of being able to switch pieces easily as needed.

Andy b - have you heard of any composites in your neck of the woods? Good or Bad?

Yes we do have them over here. and yes they are rubbish!
and as for being able to just swap blades? that's just sales patter i'm affaid because if you hit something hard enough to damage the blade you inevitably damage the hub slots that you'd fit the new blade too
    IMHO of course

We've discussed composite props in a number of threads here. I wont say that they are junk or rubbish but imho they are good as a back-up or 'get me home' prop at best. We need a thumbs down icon.....

Surprisingly.. there are very few jet boats around here. Could be because the older one's were hard to maintain and unreliable... and the new one's cost so much that... well... who could afford one. There is a guy with the latest and greatest seadoo down here. I think he's from Akron Ohio and only comes down a few weekends each month to boat at their river lot. I think he told me with all the bells and whistles it was over 58,000? But.. it'll park itself at the dock all on it's own lol.
