Default 214 Jubilee with 5.7L Propeller

I have a 1998 214 Jubilee with a 5.7L motor. When these boats were shipped out originally what was the prop size? I currently have a 4-blade, not sure of the pitch, but am only getting 3900 wot.

The boats weren't necessarily shipped out with a standard size prop installed. We need to know what prop you have on the boat now. Assuming your tach is correct, it sounds like you will need to drop the pitch by about 2" which will raise your rpms at WOT.

    mikeyt,

    The current prop is a Turbo 2+2 prop 14 1/4 x 16 pitch 4 blade p/n TH142516R4.

That's an aftermarket prop i'm not too familiar with however it does seem to be the correct type of prop for your boat and it appears to be a good performance prop from what i've read. Unfortunately isn't close to what you need as your recommended range is 4400-4800 at WOT. I'll throw the conventional wisdom out the window regarding going up/down with pitch and suggest you likely need a 19" pitch 3 blade prop or a 20" 4 blade prop to give you the performance you require. I would also suggest you see if you can find one on a try-out basis from your local prop shop and see if that improves things.

One other thing, i would check your tach to ensure the little dial on the back is set at "8 cyl". Spin it a couple of times then reset it. What speed were you doing at WOT?

miket - it will go about 40-43 mph when trimmed out.
